Kristie Edwards

I am currently in my third and final year of the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology at Charles Sturt University. Studying online has allowed me to continue competing and traveling internationally while completing my degree. As part of this Masters course, I have traveled from the Gold Coast to Bathurst twice a year to attend the Intensive Learning School weeks, which are essential for hands-on skill development.

I chose to pursue this degree to build on my knowledge from my Bachelor of Sport and Exercise Science, equipping me with the expertise to help individuals improve their health and well-being through exercise. During my undergraduate studies, I became increasingly aware of the growing prevalence of chronic health conditions in Australia and their impact on mortality and morbidity rates. Learning about the powerful role of physical activity in preventing and managing these conditions ignited my passion for exercise physiology and its potential to drive meaningful, long-term health improvements.

As an Exercise physiologist, I hope to play a crucial role in reducing the risk of chronic diseases through evidence-based movement interventions. Exercise Physiologist's knowledge extends beyond general fitness to the prescription of tailored exercise programs that specifically address the underlying physiological mechanisms contributing to conditions such as cardiovascular disease, type 2 diabetes, obesity, mental health and musculoskeletal disorders.
