Rugby. Griffith University. Bachelor of Education.
I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Education (primary) with a major in Health and Physical Education at Griffith University. This four-year program equips me with the pedagogical skills, curriculum knowledge, and practical experience necessary to become a qualified primary school teacher, with a focus on fostering physical literacy and wellbeing in young students. The course covers child development, teaching methodologies, inclusive education, and discipline-specific content in physical education, preparing me to deliver engaging and developmentally appropriate PE lessons.
I chose this course because it aligns with my passion for sport and education. It enables me to promote physical activity and healthy lifestyles among children while also developing leadership, communication, and instructional skills. Through this degree, I am gaining expertise in movement strategies, coaching principles, and behaviour managements, all of which are essential skills for fostering positive learning environments in both school and community settings.
This Degree strongly supports the AIS Win Well Strategy by enhancing my physical, mental and social capabilities. It provides the tools to encourage active participation, resilience, and teamwork in students, which are all key attributes of an athlete’s mindset. Additionally, the course fosters a growth perspective, helping me integrate the principles of motivation, perseverance, and holistic wellbeing into my teacher and broader career aspirations.
