Weightlifting. University of the Sunshine Coast. Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours).
I am currently enrolled in a Bachelor of Physiotherapy (Honours) at the University of the Sunshine Coast. This program equips me with the knowledge and practical skills to help individuals of all ages optimize their movement, function, and overall physical well-being. It covers injury prevention, rehabilitation, and exercise-based interventions to enhance health and mobility.
As part of my studies, I am undertaking PTY100: Introduction to Physiotherapy Practice A, which introduces the scope of physiotherapy, professional ethics, and foundational clinical skills such as communication, movement analysis, and pain assessment. I am also completing PSY100: Introduction to Psychology A, which explores cognitive and social development, personality, motivation, and mental health—key aspects in understanding the psychological factors affecting injury recovery and performance.
This degree offers over 1,000 hours of clinical placement, providing hands-on experience in various healthcare settings, including private practice, hospitals, aged care, and sports physiotherapy. I chose this course because it aligns with my goal of working in sports physiotherapy, specializing in weightlifting-related injuries. As an elite weightlifter, I have firsthand experience with the challenges athletes face in injury recovery. This program provides me with the expertise to bridge the gap between rehabilitation and high-performance sport, ultimately helping athletes return to peak condition while minimising future injury risks.
