Austin Cross

I am enrolled in a Bachelor of Engineering at the University of Technology Sydney, with the goal of becoming an engineer after my sporting career. Studying engineering while competing in the highly technical 470 Olympic Sailing Class has strong connections, and the real-life links I can make between what I learn in the classroom and my experiences on the water are highly relevant and beneficial in both contexts.

I believe that having a plan for life after sport is important, so for me to put full energy into chasing Olympic gold, I need to know that my success will not end as an athlete but will feed into a meaningful career after competition.
