Upon my completion of high school, I felt a strong desire to study in the field of health. Due to my disability, unfortunately many courses and future careers were ruled out, due to physical demands. When I discovered the profession of psychology, I finally felt that I had found my passion.
To pursue my studies, I have relocated from a rural community, Sussex Inlet, on the NSW South Coast. I travel home often from Canberra, which increases the costs associated with travel, as I have specialist doctors located at home and that I access at least five times a year, so my travel expenses are high. As an elite athlete I am often absent from campus, so I rely on technology that is up to date and compatible with overseas demands. In my field of psychology, many units require the purchase of a textbook for reading, which can cost up to $100 each.
