Grant | The Elite Athlete Grant has been developed to support elite athletes in attaining excellence in their chosen sport whilst maintaining academic achievement and giving them the opportunity to make a difference in their community. Curtin University is proud to be a member of the Elite Athlete Friendly University (EAFU) Network, an initiative of the Australian Sporting Commission. Since its conception in 2004, the EAFU Program at Curtin University has contributed significant resources to ensure elite athletes receive the required support to be able to successfully integrate their academic and sporting aspirations. The program is managed by Curtin Stadium and is strongly endorsed by the Vice-Chancellor. Completing an education at the same time as training for elite sport is challenging. However comprehensive research and student athlete testimonies demonstrate that athletes who successfully integrate their studies and sport can achieve excellent results in both areas. | $5,000 |
Scholarship | The Elite Athlete Support Fund has been established to provide support to students registered under the Elite Athlete Program at Murdoch University. Currently enrolled Murdoch University students (or those who have intermitted or are inactive but have demonstrated that they intend to return to study) who require financial assistance in fulfilling their sporting endeavours. | $5,000 per year ($2,500 per semester) |
Scholarship | The Convocation Bursary is the highest ranking award in the program and is awarded to the most outstanding elite male and female athletes amongst the nominees. The Bursary is open to all current UWA students, including non-club members. The Bursary is taken from previous athlete scholarship models and aims to keep in place a long standing collaboration between the Convocation Council, the University and UWA Sport. | $3,000 |
Scholarship | Open to all current first year UWA students, including non-club members. The Bursary is awarded in recognition of UWA Student Athlete Wally Marshall Nunn. Nunn won four full blue awards across the sports of athletics, rugby, swimming and rowing. To this date no other student athlete has received four full blues across differing sports while representing the University of Western Australia. | $1,500 |
Scholarship | Open to all current Indigenous students at UWA. The Indigenous athlete bursary was added in the 2016 pilot program to recognise the achievements of Indigenous student athletes within UWA. | $1,000 |
Scholarship | To assist and encourage high-performing student-athletes to pursue an undergraduate qualification at the University and realise their dual career focus. | $15,000 (3 years @ $5000) |
Scholarship | The University of Western Australia has a long history and commitment to supporting athletes in pursuing sport at the highest level. The UWA Elite Athlete Program has been designed to support and facilitate elite and high performing student athletes in balancing the demands of study and sport during their time at university. Through the UWA Sport Bursary program and the Student Athlete Development program athletes gain exposure to development opportunities, have access to financial support, and are provided with the support networks necessary to aid them in balancing part time work within an already busy schedule of academic and sport related activities. Whilst targeting elite and high performing athletes, the program also aims to assist emerging athletes in reaching the next level of performance. The program targets Olympic, non-Olympic and professional sport athletes who seek to combine their sporting pursuits with positive academic pursuits. | $2,000 |
