Graham Kerr

Dr Graham Kerr is a Professor in Movement Neuroscience at the School of Exercise and Nutrition Sciences at Queensland University of Technology (QUT). He is a founding member of the Centre for Advanced Defence Research and is currently Deputy Director of the ARC Training Centre for Transformative Health Sensing Technologies. His research experience has ranged from fitness assessment and team selection of Olympic athletes to leading edge brain stimulation techniques for treatment of neurodegenerative disease. At QUT he leads the Movement Neuroscience research program which embraces multidisciplinary approaches to understand the neurophysiological basis of human performance in health and disease. This research has advanced understanding of complex neural and physiological systems that underpin visuomotor control as well as posture and gait instability due to fatigue, ageing and neurodegenerative diseases. Application of this research has been in predictive health diagnostics, neurological assessment toolkits, wearable technologies, performance enhancement and establishment of clinical outreach programs including exercise and dance. It has also informed development of smart footwear and non-invasive brain stimulation techniques for improving balance and locomotion, reducing falls risk and enhancing human performance. He has authored more than 150 peer-reviewed publications.
