Sophie Bashford
Psychologist, AusCycling

Sophie Bashford is a Psychologist specialising in sport and performance, with more than a decade of experience working in elite sporting environments across the UK and Australia. She is currently Lead Psychologist within AusCycling’s High-Performance Program, supporting athletes, coaches and staff across Olympic and Paralympic cycling programs and disciplines.
Sophie’s work at AusCycling spans individual performance, team dynamics and the broader performance environment. She works across the system to strengthen the psychological capabilities, relationships and environments that enable people and teams to perform at their best, when it matters. Her approach recognises that high performance is enabled and strengthened through the collective contribution of coaches, leaders, support staff and the wider performance system, bringing a psychologically informed lens to people, relationships and behavioural science in the pursuit of winning and winning well.
Sophie is particularly passionate about creating meaningful change through system-wide initiatives, helping translate psychology into practical, sustainable change across complex performance environments.
