Leah Blayney
Leah Blayney has held the position of Head Coach of the Young Matildas since 2019 and was the Assistant Coach in the three years previous. Leah represented Australia in 16 ‘A’ international matches between 2004 and 2006, playing professionally in Australia, the United States, and Sweden. She has acted as a second assistant with the Matildas as part of the FFA Female Coach Mentor Program and has held lead scout roles for Australia at the Rio Olympics and 2019 FIFA Women’s World Cup. Leah has also worked as head coach of football New South Wales’ NTC team and as an Assistant in the A-league. Leah was the first female Australian coach to take a youth team to a World Cup, and the first female to have played in two and coached in one. Leah is the current technical lead of the Future Matildas Program, U/20 Head Coach and U/23 Assistant Coach. Leah holds a Bachelor of Education from Central Connecticut State University (2007-2009). |
