Best coverage of sport by a club or organisation

This award recognises exemplary and innovative content produced by sporting clubs and organisations that demonstrates creativity, audience engagement and impact through their own media channels. 

Entries should highlight the unique and creative approaches your club or organisation has taken to captivate fans via platforms such as social media, podcasts, video (long or short form) or website articles.   

Judges will be looking for examples of outstanding audience engagement, storytelling and innovation, recognising creative and impactful approaches that elevate and enhance the experience of members, supporters and communities. 

Your entry must address each of the below: 

1. Outline whether your entry is for a specific event, or for your coverage across the season. If it is for a specific event, please provide background information about the significance of the event. 
2. Summarise the team involved in producing the content. 
3. Explain your target audience, and how your content connects and engages this group. 
4. Provide 3 to 5 examples of your work outlining:  - innovative and/or original content or storytelling  - how the content was shared and/or repurposed across different platforms and formats  - Audience impact and community growth, supported by relevant metrics where available 
5. Provide examples of how your content positively contributes to sport through storytelling, education, advocacy, community building, entertainment or the promotion of safe, welcoming and inclusive sporting environments. 

Entry requirements

Entries will be assessed on the quality and comprehensiveness of coverage during the qualifying period and should include:

• A completed entry form (Please submit a separate form for each entry - a series on the same topic is considered a single entry)
• One copy of the nominated item/s (PDFs or web links can be submitted)
• Answers to the questions outlined above, no more than 500 words.
• Examples of your content as requested in the criteria. Entrants should provide up to six examples of their best work and are encouraged to showcase the variety of mediums they have used.

If your entry includes long-form video or podcasts, we strongly encourage you to include a highlights package. Upload an electronic copy of the work that forms the basis of the nomination. The online form allows for multiple file uploads simultaneously. Multiple file types are also supported. If your platform requires a user to login to view the content in full, please include login details in your entry.

Entries do not have a file size limit, however the upload time will be dependent on your internet connection.

Qualifying information

The qualifying period for all nominations is between 1 November 2025 and 31 October 2026. Entries submitted in previous Sport Australia/ASC Media Awards cannot be re-submitted. This period applies to all categories except the Lifetime achievement award for contribution to sports journalism.
