ASC Media Awards

This award is for media based outside major metropolitan areas and individuals that travel to cover sport in a rural and/or regional area.

It recognises exceptional coverage of sport in rural and regional Australia - this may include coverage of issues as well as match reports, match previews, profiles or any other well-researched coverage. Community impact will be considered.

Entries open on Monday 22 September 2025 and close on Friday 31 October 2025.

Entry information

Entry requirements

Entries will be assessed on the quality and comprehensiveness of coverage during the qualifying period and should include:

  • A completed entry form (Please submit a separate form for each entry - a series on the same topic is considered a single entry)
  • One copy of the nominated item/s (PDFs or web links can be submitted)
  • A 200-word statement to support the entry, outlining its relevance to the category, impact and any background context.
  • Entries can be a single piece or a series of pieces (a maximum of six) which best represent your coverage.

Upload an electronic copy of the work that forms the basis of the nomination. The online form allows for multiple file uploads simultaneously. Multiple file types are also supported. If your platform requires a user to login to view the content in full, please include login details in your entry.

Entries do not have a file size limit, however the upload time will be dependent on your internet connection.

Qualifying information

The qualifying period for all nominations is between 1 November 2024 and 31 October 2025. Entries submitted in previous Sport Australia/ASC Media Awards cannot be re-submitted. This period applies to all categories except the Lifetime achievement award for contribution to sports journalism.
