This award recognises an individual who has delivered exceptional written coverage of sport in print or online media during the nomination period.

Entries should demonstrate responsible and well-researched coverage and provide a detailed and innovative insight into sport.

Entry requirements

Entries will be assessed on the quality and comprehensiveness of coverage during the qualifying period and should include:

• A completed entry form (Please submit a separate form for each entry - a series on the same topic is considered a single entry)
• One copy of the nominated item/s (PDFs or web links can be submitted)
• A 200-word statement to support the entry, outlining its relevance to the category, impact and any background context.
• Entrants should provide no more than six examples of their best work. Please note the Australian Sports Commission cannot accept books as entries for these awards.

Upload an electronic copy of the work that forms the basis of the nomination. The online form allows for multiple file uploads simultaneously. Multiple file types are also supported. If your platform requires a user to login to view the content in full, please include login details in your entry.

Entries do not have a file size limit, however the upload time will be dependent on your internet connection.

Qualifying information

The qualifying period for all nominations is between 1 November 2024 and 31 October 2025. Entries submitted in previous Sport Australia/ASC Media Awards cannot be re-submitted. This period applies to all categories except the Lifetime achievement award for contribution to sports journalism.
