    Abundance of opportunities open for athletes and HP staff through AIS programs

    An array of opportunities are available for athletes, coaches and staff working in high performance sport, with four Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) programs currently seeking expressions of interest for grants, scholarships and program participants.

    Olympic sailor Jaime Ryan received a grant from the inaugural AIS Athlete Education Scholarship program.

    AIS Talent Program (Women Executives)

    EOIs close: 19 February 2024

    Open to: Women in sport leadership roles

    The six-month course empowers women by fostering a sense of belonging and building a supportive community to enhance their leadership roles.

    The course boasts an impressive alumnus, including Ian Thorpe's coach Tracey Menzies Stegbauer and inclusion and belonging leader and media professional Rana Hussain.

    AIS Share a Yarn First Nations Cultural Connection program

    EOIs close: 1 March 2024

    Open to: Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander athletes

    In its fifth year, the program creates safe affirming environments which support cultural connectedness and improve wellbeing for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander high performance athletes.

    Running from March to November, the program will be a mixture online mentoring sessions, bimonthly activities, and a cultural connection camp held at the AIS in Canberra.

    AIS Athlete Education Scholarship program

    EOIs close: 15 March 2024

    Open to: Categorised athletes enrolled in recognised Australian University degree or TAFE course

    Delivered in partnership with the John and Myriam Wylie Foundation and the Australian Sports Foundation, the AIS Athlete Education Scholarship (AES) program provides grants of up to $5,000 to support athletes with the costs associated with higher education.

    Now in its fourth year, the AES supports high performance athletes to Win Well by assisting them to balance the demands of study, work and sport.

    AIS Elevate Learning Grant program

    EOIs close: 22 March 2024

    Open to: High Performance Pathway workforce (pathway leads, performance support, coaches)

    The program invests in education and professional development opportunities for individuals who support athletes in the high performance pathway and who are committed to improving themselves and the HP systems’ ability to identify, develop, support and progress talented athletes.
