The Australian sport sector is coming together to codesign Australia’s first National Community Sport Infrastructure Action Plan.

More than 2,000 Australians have had their say on the future of community sport infrastructure helping shape the nation’s first National Community Sport Infrastructure Action Plan.

The action plan, part of the Play Well Strategy, will drive more inclusive, accessible and multipurpose sporting facilities nationwide.

Through online surveys and in person sessions held in every State and Territory, key stakeholders from Local, State and Territory Governments, national and state sporting bodies, venue operators and experts have given insights and shared their vision.

Online discussions also connected with the National Sport Infrastructure Network, regional and remote councils, national sporting organisations and national sport organisations for people with disability.

“Thank you to everyone who shared their views. Your insights will help make sporting facilities across the country more welcoming, inclusive and accessible,” Australian Sports Commission Executive General Manager Sport and Community Capability Richard McInnes said.

The findings will be shared with the Industry Advisory Group ahead of a co-design workshop in October, with the final action plan to be released in the coming months.
