Bringing the sector together to align resources, effort and investment is the focus of Horizon 1 (2024-2026) of the Play Well Strategy.
The first Play Well Report highlights the progress made in its opening year (July 2024–June 2025), showing how united action is helping to drive greater impact and open up more opportunities for everyone to be involved in sport.
Australian Sports Commission Executive General Manager Sport and Community Capability and Play Well Leadership Group Chair Richard McInnes says he’s proud of the sector’s progress, from increased participation funding to the creation of 12 advisory groups to support the strategy.
“We recognise that the success of Play Well depends on collaboration with the many organisations involved in our sporting ecosystem and it has been great to connect with so many Australians who are passionate about sport participation at our many roadshows, webinars and conferences,” he said.
“Together, we can ensure that everyone has the opportunity to be involved in sport in a way that suits them.”
As we enter Year 2 of Horizon 1, the Implementation Plan Year 2 sets out how we’ll build on Year 1 initiatives, introduce new activities, and further engage diverse groups in physical activity.
