  • What is Play Well?
    • Play Well is Australia's first Participation Strategy and has been developed to create great sporting environments and experiences, where individuals of all ages, backgrounds, genders and abilities can come together to access the benefits of sport.
  • What is the timeframe of Play Well?
    • The strategy is structured into four phases. The first three phases are dedicated to working towards a unified system leading up to the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games. The fourth phase leverages the momentum generated by the 2032 Games to create a lasting impact on sports participation in Australia.
  • Who is responsible for Play Well?
    • The Play Well Strategy is the result of a collective effort of passionate people from across Australia who are committed to creating a more active and healthier Australia. The Strategy implementation will be coordinated by the Australian Sports Commission but it belongs to all of us and we invite you to join us to help make Australian sport safe, more welcoming, inclusive and fun.
  • Will Play Well accommodate for all sports?
    • Yes, Play Well is designed by the sport sector for the whole sector. Through Play Well, we want anyone involved in sport to be able to pick up the strategy and be able to align their organisational strategies with it.
  • How will Play Well be implemented?
    • The Play Well Implementation page outlines the steps we will take over the next 12 months to deliver our priority initiatives and bring the strategy to life. A new implementation plan will be developed every 12 months outlining the new activities for the upcoming year.

2024 Roadshow Play Well FAQs

As part of the strategy's implementation, the ASC is committed to regularly engaging with Australia's state-based sporting bodies, government agencies and service providers to discuss the progress of Play Well.

Across September & October 2024, the ASC held 8 in-person state roadshows and 2 online roadshows.

The Play Well roadshows provided opportunities to:

  • Bring state-based sector representatives together to network and learn from one another
  • Share updates on the implementation of Play Well activities
  • Workshop critical elements of the strategy, uncovering key insights and themes for future development
