Industry Advisory Group - Officiating

Sport Australia has recently established the Industry Advisory Group – Officiating, with the inaugural meeting held in Sydney on Thursday 8 August.

The role of the Industry Advisory Group (IAG-O) is to support and assist with Sport Australia’s direction to deliver high quality learning environments and experiences for officials at all levels. The group will lead on advocacy, recognition and support of officials, and assist with the development of the strategic direction for officiating in Australia.

The IAG-O will also facilitate the co-operation of other organisations and partners as part of a national and international network supporting officials.

The initial meeting focussed on the development of industry resources, roles and responsibilities and the future of officiating in Australia.

The successful applicants for the first 12-month period are:

  • Tony Archer – National Rugby League
  • Eugene Brazzale – Football Federation Australia
  • Jacqui Jashari – Netball Australia
  • Donna Kelso – Women’s Tennis Association
  • Ian Lock – Cricket Australia
  • Dr Katherine O’Brien – Queensland University of Technology
  • Jo O’Neill/Paula Devenny – Sport and Recreation QLD
  • Chris Sinclair – Squash Australia
  • Simon Taufel – Consultant (Former ICC Umpire)
  • Ben Williams – Department of Education (Former FIFA World Cup Referee)
  • Scott Young – Rugby Australia
