Local Sporting Champions eligibility change

01 November 2021

The Local Sporting Champions (LSC) program provides financial assistance for coaches, officials and competitors aged 12-18 years, who participate in state, national or international championships. Successful applicants receive between $500 and $750 toward the cost of attending their championships.

From 1 July 2021, applicants can apply for a grant up to one month after their championships finish. In previous funding rounds, applications could only be submitted prior to commencement of the competition.

Apply before, or up to one month after your championships.

Sport Australia is encouraging NSOs and state bodies to promote the LSC program to eligible participants before and during eligible championships as more states open up post COVID-19 lockdowns. This will ensure more parents and competitors are aware of the grant program and have more time to complete applications.

We are also developing promotional material to help sporting organisations promote the program and give athletes in their sport or state the opportunity to apply for funding.

Learn more about eligibility and how to apply for a grant on the Sport Australia website under Local Sporting Champions or call the LSC team on 02 6214 1462.
