Melbourne University Lightning Netball Club scores new uniforms

Congratulations to the Melbourne University Lightning Netball Club who will be celebrating in style thanks to the Play for Purpose raffle.
The club, which sold close to $4,000 in tickets during raffle 10, will use their funds to purchase specially designed uniforms for the Victorian Netball Association’s Pride Round.
A supporter of the club was the lucky winner of the second prize in the Play for Purpose Raffle 10, receiving a $15k JBHI prize pack. Lightning seemed to strike twice as the club also won a $500 incentive for being one of the top 5 sports partners.
‘With strong ticket sales and the second prize winner being a supporter of their Club, this really is a win-win for the club and the community’ said a rep for the Play for Purpose raffle.
‘The club has been instrumental in working with the Association to establish the Pride Round, and we are delighted that we can fund themed uniforms to mark the occasion’ said Club President Lindy Murphy.
The Melbourne University Netball Club decided to register for the Play for Purpose Raffle during the Victorian covid lockdown.
Murphy quickly recognised the impact of the shutdown on the Club, its players, and coaching staff.
‘Due to lockdown, the club was unable to deliver an event based fundraising initiative to support their Behavioural Profiling program, so it needed another way to raise funds for the club, said Murphy.’
The program fosters the building of self-awareness that is required to take performance to the next level, providing a framework to enable further understanding of building effective relationships with others.
Melbourne University Lightning Netball Club identifies talent for Netball Victoria as well as providing opportunities for disadvantaged youth.
