NSO Organisational Effectiveness (People) Project

19 February 2020

Sport Australia has been working with successful applicants of the Impact Funding Projects to deliver outcomes that will be applied across the sector to deliver organisational efficiencies and value for money from the investment in sport. An update on specific projects that will deliver significant benefits for sporting organisations are provided below:

NSO Organisational Effectiveness (People) Project

The Organisational Effectiveness project is being developed to deliver outcomes across the three streams of people management, risk and compliance to be applied across the sector. The group are providing invaluable input to assist in the development and testing of solutions that the broader National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) and the National Sporting Organisation for people with Disability (NSOD) sector will be able to access, apply and adapt as necessary.

1. Risk Framework  A standardised risk management framework has been developed for sporting organisations that is aligned with best practice. The framework will be scalable based upon the level of sophistication each sport requires in its risk management framework. It is expected that the risk management framework will be available for release in April 2020. 2. HR Policy Framework A suite of HR Policies, supporting procedures, employment contract templates and materials will become available for use by sports, to meet both compliance with legislative requirements, as well as best practice in people management. The documentation is expected to be completed in April 2020 and will be made available to sports via the recently released Partner Portal.

3. HR Tech Solution NSOs and NSODs will be able to gain access to one or more HR management systems configured to support sports to ensure compliance with legislative employment arrangements, and to provide an automated system to manage talent management activities such as recruitment, on-boarding, performance and development planning. NSOs/NSODs will be able to choose to engage with one of the recommended vendors based upon their own needs and requirements. System usage will be self-funded by the NSOs and it is envisaged that competitive pricing will be achieved through this model. It is expected that the HR tech solution will be available for use by selected sports from July 2020 and in the first instance will support the implementation of the HR policy framework.
