In the 2018/19 Federal Budget, the Australian Government announced a $230 million package for sport participation and physical activity initiatives. This package included an investment of $28.9 million over four years to get the least active Australians active.
$18 million of this investment was provided through the first round of the Move It AUS - Participation grants. The delivery of 62 programs funded through the first round of funding is underway and showing some exciting examples of how new ideas can be implemented to target inactivity.
Planning is now underway to release the remaining $10.5 million as part of a single round competitive process across FY 2020/21 and 2021/22. Sport Australia encourages all partner organisations to consider how the Move It AUS - Participation grants program may support new and existing initiatives to encourage the inactive to become active, and to promote participation in sport or physical activity across all stages of life.
More information on Round 2, Move It AUS - Participation grant application dates, including the program guidelines and selection criteria will be available here early in 2020!
