Sport Australia’s Game Plan: a digital capability tool for all clubs

17 February 2021

Sport Australia’s Game Plan is an easy to use, diagnostic tool to measure, develop and improve the capability of sporting organisations and clubs across Australia. Recently launched, Game Plan has received positive reviews and brings measurable benefit to sporting organisations and clubs alike.

Game Plan replaces Sport Australia’s previous club development tool, the Club Health Check.

Game Plan improves on the Club Health Check by providing:

  • A new digital platform, allowing organisations to take a continuous improvement approach to their development through a secure, personalised portal; including assessments and information that considers the priorities and maturity level of each organisation.
  • Expanded assessment breadth with 13 assessable areas of operational and strategic performance providing more reliable and realistic assessments of sector capability and needs.
  • Customised action plans and resources to equip users with information and resources to deliver meaningful and targeted improvements in areas prioritised by their organisation.
  • A single digital platform that brings together best practice resources across the sector with support from clubs, NSOs, State and Territory Organisations (SSOs) and State and Territory Agencies for Sport and Recreation (STASR).
  • Sector wide reporting insights to assist planning future Sport Australia, STASR, NSO and SSO priority focus areas.

Early results indicate a keen interest and positive uptake from the sector with close to 400 clubs from 64 sports completing in excess of 1,000 assessments.

Participating NSOs will soon have the option to customise a number of Sport Australia’s Game Plan features including unique branding as well as contributing sport-specific resources and question sets to inform and support their own strategic priorities and engagement with the community.
