Sporting Schools - Connecting students with local clubs
03 May 2021
The Sporting Schools Club Connect program is focused on encouraging more primary aged students into joining their local sporting clubs.
The impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic renewed our effort on finding opportunities to drive engagement and participation into sporting clubs across Australia.
The national footprint of Sporting Schools provides the ideal opportunity to explore and test new approaches.
The Club Connect project will enable schools to build on their involvement in Sporting Schools program and develop relationships with local sporting clubs to help increase student registration with clubs.
The project will aim to:
- Connect children with local sporting clubs
- Inform families about local sporting club opportunities
- Enhance the value that schools, and parents place on club sport participation
- Support sport product design and delivery to assist children to transition from school programs into club sport
- Develop partnerships between schools, parents, and local sporting clubs.
It will comprise three main components:
Parent Engagement Toolkit: to promote sport registration periods and the benefits of participation in club sport. These resources will service the whole Sporting Schools program.
Resource Hub: an online depository of information to assist parents, teachers and NSOs connect children into clubs.
Grants Program: funding to schools will support partnership development between Sporting Schools NSO partners and their affiliated clubs to deliver programs that focus on transition.
The Find a Club Tool is now live and the grant program is scheduled to hit the ground in Terms 3 and 4 of this year. Find a Club now
