Strong interest in second round of Participation Grant Program

01 November 2021

Applications have closed for the second round of Sport Australia’s Participation Grant Program with more than 100 applications received, requesting a total of $28 million in project support.

Applications opened in September with eligible national sport and physical activity providers encouraged to apply for grants of up to $450,000 each.

The Participation Grant Program is a $10.3 million investment to support innovative new programs that bring communities together and help more Australians enjoy the social, personal and health benefits of participating in community sport and physical activity.

In announcing the program last month, Minister for Sport, Senator the Hon Richard Colbeck said the initiative would support up to 40 new inclusive, high-quality sport and physical activity experiences across the country.

Three funding streams are available with 35 applications received for Stream 1 to support national physical activity programs, 55 applications for Stream 2 which is for NSOs and NSODs, while 13 applications were received for Stream 3, which aims to support NSO and NSOD partnership projects.

The application assessment process has commenced and we look forward to sharing the successful grant recipients.
