The National Federation Reform Council replaces CASRO and MSRM

17 February 2021

In October last year, National Cabinet agreed to disband a number of standing forums including the Meeting of Sport and Recreation Ministers (MSRM) and Committee of Australian Sport and Recreation Officials (CASRO). This work will wrap up on February 1, 2021.

Sport will now be represented by the relevant Ministers at the National Federation Reform Council, opens in a new tab, which includes Ministers from Federal, State and Territory Governments as well as the Local Government Association, reporting as needed through to the National Cabinet, opens in a new tab.

The aim of these changes is to provide Ministers with meetings that are more agile and responsive while reducing red tape, recognising that all levels of government play a role in delivering sport and sport related policies and programs.

Sport Australia and the AIS looks forward to continuing to support the great work of NSOs and the sporting sector, maintaining close connections with our state and territory colleagues and working collaboratively through the new arrangements.
