Another seven organisations are joining the ASC’s Play Well Affiliates program to help more Australians be physically active.
The organisations all play a key role in the sport and recreation space and sit outside the recognised national sporting organisations (NSO) or national sporting organisations for people with disability (NSOD) structure.
The Royal Life Saving Society of Australia, Sports Dietitians Australia and Sport Medicine Australia are among those joining the program.
“We’re proud to be involved with Play Well and look forward to playing a meaningful role in all levels of sport,” Royal Life Saving Society CEO Justin Scarr said.
“Through this partnership, we aim to help to ensure that no child or adult misses out on the skills needed to enjoy the water safely, and to boost community access to great local swimming pools, which we know are vital for fun, physical activity, and bringing people and communities together.”
Sports Medicine Australia (SMA) CEO Jamie Crain said the partnership aligns with SMA’s vision to enhance the health and wellbeing of all Australians through knowledge, training and safe participation in sport, exercise and physical activity.
“We are excited to contribute our expertise to the Play Well Strategy through this initiative and look forward to joining like-minded organisations in creating safer, more inclusive sporting environments for everyone.”

Since its launch in November last year, Affiliates have worked with the ASC on a number of initiatives as part of the Play Well Strategy to remove barriers so that everyone that wants to be involved can be involved in sport.
As part of the program’s first year, Affiliates could also apply for funding for projects that build the capability of their organisation or help more Australians be active.
Affiliates that received funding included School Sport Australia to help build inclusive and representative pathways for students with disability, AFL Masters for implementing an AFL 9s program and AUSactive for its Million Moves campaign to encourage Australians to move more.
ACHPER also received funding for early childhood movement development, UniSport Australia for international student sport festivals, and Little Athletics Australia for online volunteer engagement and coaching courses.

A total of 17 Affiliates are now part of the program with the first ten organisations also continuing their membership until 30 June 2027.
