Nine Performance Pathways coaches, each from different sports, will experience peer learning in a Commonwealth Games environment thanks to a study tour being conducted by the AIS Elevate Coach Program.

The selected coaches have all committed to the AIS Elevate Coach Program, which provides intensive learning and support for coaches directly focused on working with the development of pathways athletes.

The 10-day Study Tour will also include a visit to English Premier League’s Liverpool Football Club and attendance at the three-day International Council for Coaching Excellence Conference.

Performance Pathways and coaching development are key focus areas of the AIS, especially as Australia builds towards hosting the 2032 Brisbane Games and beyond.

AIS Performance Pathways Coaching lead Graham Turner said the Tour was designed to provide experiential learning.

“Our objective is to enhance Australia’s high performance pathways to successfully identify, develop, support and progress our talented athletes for the future,” Turner said.

“All the coaches on this Study Tour have committed to or are graduates of the AIS Elevate Coach Program. They have been endorsed by their sports and have individual coach development plans.

“So the purpose of this Study Tour is to take that learning a step further and bring them together on the periphery of a major multi-sport environment, so they can stretch themselves and each other in terms of their coaching development.”

Coaches on the AIS Elevate Coaching Study Tour are:

  • Jenny Borlase (Netball)
  • Matthew Brown (Swimming)
  • Amber Cameron (Diving)
  • Elizabeth Doherty (Football)
  • Janine Kaye (Triathlon)
  • Sebastian Kuzminski (Athletics)
  • Jamie O’Loughlin (Basketball)
  • Reg Tayler (Rugby 7s)
  • Nathan Turnbull (Squash)
