HP 2032+ Strategy Leadership Group Meets in Melbourne
Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Sport Strategy Leadership Group has held its first meeting of the year and fifth overall, after coming together at the Australian Sports Commission office in Melbourne.
Following an update on the Horizon 1 activities, which found the majority of the 60 activities are on track, ASC Manager of Leadership and Professionalism, Richard Redman, provided a status update on the Capable Organisational Framework activity which aims to support National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) to develop capability to be more sustainable.
The project working group has invested significant time to identify and define the capabilities that are considered best practice and that are tailored to sport. When rolled out, organisations will complete a self-assessment process measuring capability against a maturity model to identify gaps and opportunities. A pilot is scheduled to be completed by October.
AIS Senior Performance Program Consultant, Ian Rutledge, also presented on the key findings and insights garnered from the NSO Annual Check-ins for 2022 and 2023. A total of 40 of 43 meetings have been conducted focusing on 2023 performance reviews and planning updates for Paris and LA cycles. Many sports emphasised how pivotal the Paris 2024 Preparation Fund has been to support workforce gaps and competition related expenses. Looking ahead, NSO’s are preparing to submit draft High-Performance strategies which are due at the end of April.
