Sharpening our focus to help strengthen the sport sector

Today, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) 2022-2026 Corporate Plan has been released, outlining our strategic pillars and objectives for the next four years.

Today, the Australian Sports Commission (ASC) 2022-2026 Corporate Plan has been released, outlining our strategic pillars and objectives for the next four years.

Each year the ASC produces a rolling four-year Corporate Plan that operationalises our strategic vision and details the key activities, targets and measures upon which we are held accountable.

The ASC is committed to increasing participation in organised sport and helping the sector achieve international sporting success.

This will be achieved through delivering on the below three strategic pillars:

  • More Australians involved in organised sport
  • A thriving organised sport sector
  • World’s best high performance system

ASC Chair Josephine Sukkar AM recognised this is a pivotal time for us to lead, support and grow Australian sport at all levels.

"On behalf of the Australian Government, we aim to ensure that every single person involved in sport, regardless of their role, has the best possible experience,'' said Sukkar.

"The decade ahead holds incredible opportunity. We are now embarking on a green and gold runway of major events towards the Brisbane 2032 Games and it is our chance to showcase the value and benefits of sport to all Australians."

The ASC has also ensured the work being undertaken at the grassroots level aligns with our priorities at the high performance level. A prime example of this is supporting the development of coaches.

‘’We’re committed to becoming world-leaders in high performance and community coaching and are building a long-term vision to increase the diversity of our Australian coaches, from the grassroots to the elite level,'' said Sukkar.

‘’The launch of our new community coaching approach is an impactful example of how we’re helping to strengthen the sport workforce.

“While we continue to deliver on the objectives outlined in this Corporate Plan, we are also developing an ASC strategic vision focused on the next 10 years and beyond, capitalising on the build-up to the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

“Separate to this we’ve begun building Australia’s High Performance 2032+ Sport Strategy in collaboration with the sport sector, focused on continuing to build sustainable success.

‘’Now we’re working towards an even more ambitious strategy with a 2032+ timeframe to ensure our legacy goes far beyond the 2032 home Games.

‘’The sporting strategies programs and facilities we deliver now will shape Australia’s long-term prosperity well beyond the sporting field. A thriving Australian sport system is enormously influential to a thriving Australia,’’ said Sukkar.
