Ms Anderson has announced she will step down from her role in December, after leading the organisation for six years.

Sport Australia Acting CEO Rob Dalton said Ms Anderson has worked tirelessly over her tenure, overseeing significant organisational change to benefit the Paralympic community, and ensuring inclusive opportunities for community sport participants to high performance para-athletes alike.

“Sport Australia was delighted to partner with the Australian Paralympic Committee (now Paralympics Australia) in 2018 to launch the Para-Sport Equipment Fund, which supports para-athletes at all levels with the cost of specialised equipment such as sport-specific wheelchairs, prosthetics or modified seating.”

“We want to see more people with a disability participate in sport at all levels because every Australian should have the opportunity to engage with sport. Ms Anderson has been an incredible advocate for disability sport in Australia,” Mr Dalton said.

AIS CEO Peter Conde commended Ms Anderson for her commitment to strategic partnerships and collaboration across the Australia high performance sport system.

“Ms Anderson has worked with unfailing passion to create strong relationships that prioritise athletes’ best interests. The AIS is proud to have partnered with Paralympics Australia on a significant number of key initiatives, including technology and innovation support through wheelchair and winter sport engineering projects, as well as targeted infrastructure funding and high performance support, including performance pathways,” Mr Conde said.

Australian Sports Commission Chair Josephine Sukkar paid tribute to Ms Anderson’s commitment to athlete welfare and the para-sport cause.

“On the eve of the Tokyo Paralympic Games, it’s timely that we commend Ms Anderson’s unwavering support for athlete wellbeing, and the incredible effort she and her team have undertaken to prepare for these Games,” Ms Sukkar said.

“Ms Anderson has rigorously championed the needs of the Paralympic community and for that we thank her and wish her every success in the future.”
