The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) mission is to lead and enable a united high performance (HP) system that supports Australian athletes/teams to achieve podium success. Performance health aims to provide Australian athletes a competitive advantage through optimised health, support provided by a world class system underpinned by world leading research, innovation and models of care.
Athlete performance health encompasses the broad domains of health and is defined as a state of optimal physical, mental, and social wellbeing related to an athlete’s sporting success, and not merely the absence of illness or injury that limits participation.
During the past three years we have worked with approximately 14 sports and the National Institute Network (NIN) – one of the standout partnerships has been an 85 per cent reduction in injuries in Triathlon Australia’s HP program.
We support National Sporting Organisations (NSOs) and the NIN to design and implement athlete health strategies as a consistent part of high performance programs.
