Direct support

Direct support

Coach development support is embedded within each NIN partner. This includes specialist coaching advice and coach development plus expertise to support targeted NSO/D objectives and requirements.

The HP Coach Development team also provides opportunities for 1:1 coach development, tailored and targeted NSO/D support and the HP Coach Development Initiatives Grants Program and Paul Perkins Scholarship.

HP Coach Development Initiatives Grant Program and Paul Perkins Scholarship

About the Program

The AIS HP Coach Development Initiatives Grant Program provides financial support to Australian HP coaches to strengthen their ongoing development and capability. The program supports coaches to pursue targeted learning opportunities aligned with their Individual Coach Development Plans and organisational priorities.

Guided by the AIS High Performance Coach Development Strategy – Enhancing to Los Angeles 2028, the program aims to enhance coaching capability in a uniquely Australian way, supporting both athlete experience and performance. Funding is available to support bespoke coach development solutions that respond to the complex challenges faced by HP coaches across Australia.

Paul Perkins Scholarship

In 2026, the program introduces the inaugural Paul Perkins Scholarship, recognising the significant contribution Associate Professor Paul Perkins made to Australian high performance coach development. One scholarship of up to $15,000 will be awarded to a coach whose project advances their own development while also delivering shared benefit to the broader HP coaching system, reflecting Paul’s legacy of connection, learning, and collective wisdom.

  • Total funding available: $100,000
  • Paul Perkins Scholarship: up to $15,000 (one award)
