Physiology Unpacked Education Modules

Introduction to Physiology eLearning Modules

About the Modules

These modules have been designed by sports physiologists to support high-performance pathway athletes in optimising their training, performance outcomes and long-term athlete development with simple, evidence-informed strategies commonly used within the Australian High Performance sports system.

These modules are designed for athletes, parents/guardians, carers, coaches and support teams of athletes who are embarking on or early in their high-performance pathways journey.

Please note: Each module takes about 20 minutes to complete. These modules will not store your progress if you exit before completing. However, when you return to the module you can select a start point from anywhere in the left-hand menu. The module content includes videos, written content and knowledge tests.

More information about the modules

We acknowledge individual athlete requirements vary depending on age, sport, gender, impairment, and training history. Consequently, these modules are a valuable educational tool, but the advice is general and should not be relied on solely. The module design is inclusive for Olympic and Paralympic high-performance pathway athletes. We strongly encourage all athletes to be proactive in discussing their training, performance and recovery with their coaches, families, and available support teams.

Acknowledgements

These modules are an initiative of the Australian High-Performance Sport System. The Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) acknowledges the generous contributions made by our National Institute Network (NIN) and National Sporting Organisation (NSO) and Paralympics Australia (PA) partners in the development of these modules. This project was a collaboration between AIS Performance Pathways and Programs and AIS Performance Support Systems and included significant contribution by Dr Amy Woods, Dr Nicola Bullock, Dr Rod Siegel and Dr Laura Piromalli. Special thanks to the AIS Performance colleagues and Australian High Performance Physiology practitioners for providing valuable input to content development.
