Enrolments and waitlist

Our re-enrolment period runs the last three weeks of each term (weeks 8-10) and gives all current participants priority to secure their same class for the following term.

Once the re-enrolment period is over, classes will open to new customers. Classes fill up quickly and you may need to be placed on a waitlist for classes if your preferred time and day are not available.

Fees for school terms are based on 10-week terms unless otherwise noted. Fees are payable on enrolment/re-enrolment.

New enrolments can occur at any point during the Swim School term. Payment will be pro-rated for the remaining lessons in the term.

Please send all enquires for private swimming lessons to swimschool@ausport.gov.au

Assessments

Please be advised that a limited number of new customer assessments are currently available. Please contact reception on 6214 1050 or 6214 1281 to enquire and/or to book.

All new clients are required to book into an assessment session prior to booking in to the learn-to-swim or school holiday swim intensive programs.

The assessment runs for approximately 45 minutes and includes:

  • information from our Parent Handbook
  • an overview of our policies and procedures
  • pool facility tour
  • practical assessment with a swim school instructor (which enables us to place swimmers into their appropriate skill level).

Please bring swimwear, a towel and a swimming cap (also available for purchase from reception).

It is free to have an assessment. To book an assessment, please contact us.

Level promotions

Our on-deck supervisors are responsible for the promotion of students through our levels. All participants will be assessed during week eight of each term and feedback will be provided regarding their progress. Please see the supervisor during this time for information about your child’s swimming. Some students may be assessed and promoted prior to week eight depending on readiness.

A supervisor will inform you when your child has been promoted and issue you with a promotion card. Please take this card to reception to enroll or waitlist for another class at the next level. If you have any questions regarding your child’s progress, please speak to one of our supervisors for assistance.

Missed lessons

Please note we do not offer make up lessons for missed lessons.

Supervision

Child safety is very important to us, and we need your assistance to help keep your child safe at our centre.

  • Per our Conditions of Entry and Swim School requirements Supervision at the AIS Aquatic Centre, all children under 15 years must have a parent, adult guardian or carer at the AIS Aquatic Centre for the duration of their lesson.
  • Children in beginner or intermediate levels must also have the parent, adult guardian or carer on pool deck actively watching their lesson.

Notes for parents

  • Allow plenty of time for the commencement of lessons.
  • For the more advanced levels, ensure your child brings water to drink during swim sessions.
  • In the colder months it is important for your child to have warm clothing on prior to leaving the centre.
  • Please take note of communication notices posted on our notice boards.
  • Please do not leave personal belongings unattended. Lockers are available.
  • Swimming increases your appetite and thirst, so have snacks and water ready for when your child finishes lessons.
