Australian Society for Sports History

The Australian Society for Sports History, opens in a new tab (ASSH) was established in 1983 to encourage discussion on sport history in Australia through research, publishing, and events such as conferences and workshops. It holds a biennial conference and publishes a biannual peer reviewed journal, both called Sporting Traditions. In 1992, it played a major role in the publishing of the Oxford Companion to Australian Sport, opens in a new tab.

Australian Museums and Galleries Association

Australian Museums and Galleries Association, opens in a new tab (AMaGA) is the national association and peak advocacy body representing museums and galleries.

Olympic and Paralympic Studies and Research Centres

The Queensland Centre for Olympic and Paralympic Studies (QCOPS)

The 'Centre for Olympic Studies' was founded in 2000, at the University of Queensland. In 2024, it was renamed and restructured as the Queensland Centre for Olympic and Paralympic Studies, opens in a new tab to encompass a more diverse range of Olympic, Paralympic, and sport-related research being conducted across the region. The aim of the ACOPS is to increase academic and public knowledge of the Olympic and Paralympic Games. It is a hub for research on big issues and ideas related to The Games, sport, and health more broadly.

Olympic & Paralympic Research Centre (OPRC)

Victoria University's Olympic and Paralympic Research Centre,, opens in a new tab established in 2021. A distinctive feature of the OPRC is that it encompasses social science research, writing and informed critiques associated with the Paralympics, the Winter Olympics, the Youth Olympics and other closely related mega multi-sport events, such as the Commonwealth Games and the Gay Games.

Australian Centre for Olympic Studies (ACOS)

The Australian Centre for Olympic Studies, opens in a new tab was launched in 2005, to provide a national focus for Olympic studies in Australia. The Olympic Studies Room in the UTS Library provides a large archive of official reports, bid documents, books, photo and video material to Olympic scholars, visiting fellows and PhD students.

International

International Society of Olympic Historians

The International Society of Olympic Historians, opens in a new tab (ISOH). Formed in 1991 to promote and study the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games. This is achieved primarily through research into the history of the Olympic Movement and the Olympic Games; through the gathering of historical and statistical data concerning the Olympic Movement and Olympic Games; through the publication of research via journals and other publications; and, through the cooperation of the membership.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Studies Centre

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) Olympic Studies Centre, opens in a new tab. Their mission is to share Olympic knowledge with professionals and researchers through providing information, giving access to unique collections, enabling research, and stimulating intellectual exchange.

International Sports Heritage Association

International Sports Heritage Association, opens in a new tab. A non-profit membership organization established in 1971 to assist sport museums and halls of fame to develop, operate and promote their facilities.
