First Nations, opens in a new tab, Bowls Australia, (accessed 18 August 2025). Using respectful and inclusive language and terminology is an essential component of reconciliation. The ways we speak about reconciliation is just as important as the ways we act.

• Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Strategy, opens in a new tab, Bowls Australia, (May 2023). The Strategy’s overarching goal is to increase participation within underrepresented community groups, including First Nations, by making the sport of bowls more inclusive and welcoming. By 2026, 3 years Bowls Australia aim to have Acknowledgement of Country at all National/State/Territory events; NAIDOC week celebration on all Bowls media channels; Commence and continue development of a Reconciliation Action Plan; Establish a national register of clubs with traditional place names and people.
