Being an inclusive sport not only reflects our core values, but it also reflects the diversity of our communities involved in our sport.
- Inclusive Hookin2Hockey Handbook, opens in a new tab (2025). Created in conjunction with major partner APM, can be used by clubs, coaches, administrators and the community, to assist in delivering fun, safe and inclusive hockey sessions.
- Walking Hockey. A modified version of traditional hockey, where participants can only walk. The 5-a-side game is also modified with a softer ball, smaller field and simpler rules to increase engagement and enjoyment of the game.
- Inclusive Hookin2Hockey or All Abilities Hockey is a format based on the FIH’s Hockey ID. This can be modified to suit all participants.
- FIH's Hockey ID, opens in a new tab is a complementary version of the sport for participants with an Intellectual Disability. Hockey Australia encourages the use of these rules in any modified hockey format for people with disability.
- Hockey for All, opens in a new tab (WA). Aims to support people with disability to experience the benefits of playing the inclusive, fun and safe sport of hockey. The program has engaged with six Western Australian clubs and associations to deliver a bespoke hockey experience to their members based on the needs of their communities.
Powerchair hockey, opens in a new tab, Powerchair Sports Victoria, (accessed 30 July 2025). A modified version of floorball for electric wheelchair users. The sport is played on an indoor basketball court. There are two teams of five players. To be eligible to play electric wheelchair hockey the athlete must use an electric wheelchair for daily mobility. Participants include persons with quadriplegia, multiple sclerosis, muscular dystrophy, cerebral palsy, hand trauma, stroke, spinal cord injury and other disabilities.
