Strategy
Play Her Way: Championing girls and women through sport 2024-2028, opens in a new tab, NSW Government, (2024). This strategy affirms the NSW Government’s commitment to empower women and girls to have full access to opportunity and choice. Women and girls must be recognised for their contribution, valued for their diversity and able to participate in sport at all levels in environments that foster a strong sense of belonging.
- Previous strategy - Her Sport Her Way: shaping the future of women's sport in NSW 2019-2023, opens in a new tab, NSW Government, (December 2018). 'Her Sport Her Way' was developed following stakeholder consultation. The four-year strategy featured 29 initiatives that aimed to increase women’s and girls’ participation as players, leaders and coaches, improve facilities, and attract more investment and recognition for women’s sport.
Programs, resources, and reports
- Innovation Hub, opens in a new tab, (accessed 28 July 2025). This Innovation Hub was developed to showcase innovative sport programs and take a deep dive into the latest insights, research, and solutions aimed at increasing the participation of women and girls in sport, both on and off the field. We aim to challenge and inspire ‘outside the box’ thinking from sport, business and education leaders when it comes to reimagining sport experiences for women and girls.
- The Careers for Girls in Sport, opens in a new tab summit in May 2025 explored how we can work together to ignite ambition, create pathways and champion diverse sports careers for girls. Resources including videos and presentations from the day are available on the website.
- Teenage Advisory Committee, opens in a new tab is an initiative of the Play Her Way Strategy. The teenage girls – ranging in ages 16 to 19 from across NSW – were chosen following a state-wide process to identify a group who could be a voice on some of the biggest issues affecting young women in sport. The Committee will provide advice to the NSW Government on how to break down the barriers preventing teenage girls participating in sport and propose new and innovative ways to keep teenage girls involved.
- Collective Voices: Her Sport Her Way, opens in a new tab, NSW Office of Sport, (2019). Collective Voices is an online book showcasing stories of individuals and organisations that are driving positive change for women and girls in sport. Featuring four themes: Design Shapers, Dream Makers, Ceiling Smashers, and Game Changers, it celebrates the many and varied voices that are contributing to the women’s sport landscape including initiatives undertaken to bring the 'Her Sport Her Way' strategy to life.
