Table Tennis

Table tennis is a racket sport played on a table where players use paddles to hit a lightweight ball over a net.

Governing body

Table Tennis Australia, opens in a new tab is the recognised national sporting organisation for table tennis in Australia and is recognised by governments at all levels as the sport's national governing body.

History

The first national body, the Australian Board of Control, was formed in 1933 with representatives from the South Australian, Victorian, New South Wales, and Queensland associations. It was reconstituted as the Australian Table Tennis Association in 1937. Organised table tennis activity in Australia largely ceased during World War II before the sport was formally revived in 1947. 1, 3 

In 1994, the organisation adopted its current name, Table Tennis Australia.
