Helping sporting clubs examine how they operate and supporting them to build and improve capability through Sport Australia’s Game Plan.
Game Plan is the digital platform that supports the sector to drive industry capability across national sporting organisations (NSOs) and national sporting organisations for people with disability (NSODs).
Over 3,000 Australian sporting clubs across 78 different sports are gaining key development and capability growth through their use of Game Plan.
Thirteen NSOs have added sport specific components to Game Plan, through our sport customisation opportunity.
NSOs and NSODs can securely access rich data and insights through the ASC’s Partner Portal, opens in a new tab. Sport leaders can analyse and use insights from Game Plan for short-term and long-term planning, at a national, state or local level, with a focus on key priorities that are both club and sport-specific.
The data and analytics available through Game Plan allow each NSO and NSOD to identify priority areas of development for their club and delivery network. Analysing the current state of play and trends over time help to prioritise learning resources, templates and workforce focus to concentrate in areas of highest priority based on your sport’s club network needs.
Through the ASC’s Game Plan dashboard, it is easy to identify operational and administrative maturity levels and opportunities for further progression. Dashboard metrics enable NSOs and NSODs to review module completion, responses, maturity and trends over time and capture the evidence required to support actions and initiatives at local, state and national level.
Use insights from Game Plan to actively promote club champions that are ‘excelling’ in particular areas by developing case studies and club profiles. Showcasing what can be achieved in similar settings inspires other clubs see the changes as achievable and take action within their own clubs.
By collecting data and insights through Game Plan, NSOs, NSODs, SSOs, state and territory agencies of sport and recreation (STASRs) and the ASC can develop evidence-based policy, programs and initiatives that ensure clubs are getting support and resources in areas where it is most needed. More clubs adopting the use of Game Plan provides reliable and valid club data to NSOs, NSODs, SSOs, STASRs and that not only guide supporting actions but show the rewards of investment through trends over time that highlight improvement areas.
Clubs and local sport leaders can create strong relationships with key local stakeholders to share and gather support for their Action Plan initiatives. This can come from a range of sources through STASRs, local government and other corporate and community partners that can help contribute to the club and build strong sporting communities.
Club data from Game Plan is now available to NSOs and STASRs through the ASC’s Partner Portal.
To further enhance the baseline user experience each NSO has the option to customise elements of the ASC’s Game Plan. Partnering with the ASC to customise Game Plan for your sport can create a closer connection to your clubs and sport leaders.
Seeing sport-specific imagery, co-branding and resources can support a stronger commitment to utilising the data and insights and driving regular engagement for long-term sport and club progression.
NSOs can customise Game Plan by partnering with the ASC to:
Benefits of customisation in Game Plan include:
Golf Australia worked with Sport Australia in late 2021 to customise Game Plan for the 1,300 golf clubs around Australia.
Customisation enabled clubs to answer questions tailored to their unique challenges and gain easy access to best practice, golf-specific resources.
Golf Australia’s work aimed to help clubs understand their strengths and development areas in creating an inclusive culture for women and girls in golf. The work coincided with the December 2021 launch of the R&A’s Women in Golf Charter for clubs in Australia, opens in a new tab.
By customising Game Plan, NSOs can survey clubs about challenges they are facing, provide tailored support and have a consolidated dataset about clubs’ strengths, weaknesses, and priorities.
“Having customised questions that are specific to the challenges of golf clubs ensures that the tool is relevant to their organisation. Our sport-specific module, Women in Golf, helped our staff work with clubs to address both industry and club concerns – ultimately leading to more Australians playing more golf.”
Matt Chesterman, Clubs & Facilities Senior Support Manager, Golf Australia
More than 100 golf clubs are already using Game Plan to gain insights into their capability and connect to golf-specific resources and improve their operations and performance over time.
Game Plan data and insights are now available to Golf Australia staff through the Australian Sport Commission’s Partner Portal, enabling Golf Australia’s club development officers to increase the number of golf clubs using Game Plan and use the reports in the Partner Portal to:
