Promoting Lifelong Brain Health

Risk factors and protective opportunities to provide athletes, sport organisations and regulatory agencies practical advice to support athlete brain health throughout their sporting careers and into retirement.

New AIS guidelines are providing athletes, sport organisations and regulatory agencies practical advice to support athlete brain health throughout their sporting careers and into retirement, recognising the range of factors that can influence brain health, beyond concussion and repeated head impacts.

Developed in partnership with the University of New South Wales Centre for Healthy Brain Ageing (CHeBA) and 2026 Senior Australian of the Year Professor Henry Brodaty AO, the AIS Promoting Lifelong Brain Health Position takes a comprehensive approach to brain health, bringing together evidence across physical health, nutrition, mental health, cognitive and social engagement, lifestyle factors and the management of concussion and repeated head impacts.
