Driving innovation in sport is on the agenda at the AIS campus next week with leading Australian sports technology companies heading to Canberra to collaborate with the sector.
It’s part of the Australian Sports Commission’s (ASC) virtual innovation hub, The Park, which is setting out to explore cutting-edge solutions to some of the sector’s biggest challenges.
The Park will connect technology-driven companies with sporting organisations with the goal of creating new solutions for sports and the people involved.
The five Australian companies that have received an ASC grant and will take part in the inaugural project are:
- 3D body scanning company Bodd
- Concussion management system HITIQ
- Facility booking tool Pitch Up
- Club Governance and Child Safety Organisation Safeguarding You
- Athletic performance monitoring company Sports Velocity Systems
These five companies will spend a day alongside boxing, swimming, SportWest, VIS and the AIS biomechanics and engineering teams to understand some of the technology challenges the sector is facing. Representatives from the Australian Army will also be in attendance as part of the on-going relationship with the ASC.
Over an initial six-month period, the ASC will work with members of The Park to focus on the designated priority areas of harnessing data, AI & machine learning, next-generation wearables, digital twin technologies, brain performance and environmental sustainability.
Through The Park, the companies and the ASC will look to co-create and evaluate products and services that benefit sport by working closely with athletes, coaches, performance support staff, sport experts and administrators.
The ASC congratulates the grant recipients and looks forward to working closely on innovative solutions to benefit the sector on the road to Brisbane 2032.
