Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.

Tennis Australia, opens in a new tab has a range of resources available to assist teachers with the delivery of health and physical education and activity via distance learning or at school. Parents are also encouraged to ensure their child(ren) are meeting the recommended 60 minutes of physical activity per day. Parents are able to contact their local tennis coach for ideas to use at home of by following the Tennis Australia social accounts.

The teaching resources located below can accessed via the Tennis Australia online learning platform ‘Bounce”., opens in a new tab The platform is free and teachers are able to create an account with their education email for approval if they do not have an existing account.

  • HomeCourtTennis, opens in a new tab: Content to support teachers with the delivery of HPE at home. Students are encouraged to use their imagination, creativity and problem solving to make tennis accessible regardless of their environment. Video resources, supporting material and off court activities are available for teachers to access.
  • Tennis for Primary and Secondary Schools Curriculum resource: Lesson plans and activities supporting bands Foundation to 6 and bands 7-10. Aligned to the Australian Curriculum: Health and Physical Education (AC:HPE). Teachers can also order a hard copy of the resource for free by becoming a Teacher Ambassador, opens in a new tab
  • Tennis for Primary and Secondary Schools online workshop: Unpacking the Tennis for Primary Schools and Tennis for Secondary Schools resources and how Tennis addresses the student achievement standards. The primary workshop includes assessment ideas and how to make tennis more inclusive using the Game Sense Approach. The secondary workshop explores the three pillars of the program and assessment ideas.
  • INtennisCITY, opens in a new tab: An interactive platform making it easy to run competitions, set challenges and engage students in playing tennis games. Through the website and app students can challenge each other to a ‘quick match’, track their progress and improve their skills by playing along with Milos Raonic in a series of fun videos.
  • School Development Coordinator support: Staff are available to assist your school with program implementation, professional learning and lesson planning. Visit the Tennis Australia website, opens in a new tab for a list of local people.
