Sporting Schools is an Australian Government initiative designed to help schools to increase children's participation in sport, and to connect them with community sporting opportunities.

Aim:
Teachers at a primary school in Perth were concerned that their Years 3 and 4 students were losing interest in traditional sports. The school decided that they would deliver a Sporting Schools program with Bowls Australia, opens in a new tab to provide a new and exciting experience for students.
The Sporting Schools Coordinator used the Booking System to book a package through Bowls Australia.
Delivery:
- Junior Jack Attack, opens in a new tab Sporting Schools program
- 4 x 60 minute sessions delivered during school hours, every Tuesday for four weeks
- Students from five classes of Years 3 and 4 participated
- Bowls Australia coaches (five total) delivered each session for each class
- Junior Jack Attack kit purchased

Outcomes:
The teachers immediately noticed that the students were excited about the new equipment and opportunity to explore a sport they wouldn’t normally play. Two students from the class who have physical disabilities found it easy to participate in the activities and loved playing Junior Jack Attack bowls with class mates.
The program really boosted the school’s interest in bowls, so much so that other year groups are now using the school’s Junior Jack Attack equipment kit and activity cards.
