Australian high performance (HP) sport reaffirmed its commitment to Win Well during an energised and thought-provoking 2025 World Class to World Best (WC2WB).

Almost 400 people from over 70 sports and organisations gathered for the two-day conference at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra, which was grounded in the Win Well Strategy values of excellence, belonging, connection and courage.

Hosted by Paralympic gold medallist Annabelle Williams, the speaker line-up blended high performance leaders with experts from outside sport – including The Australian Ballet and Sydney Conservatorium of Music – with every presentation reinforcing a shared theme: how to make the most of the opportunity of Brisbane 2032.

“The thing that I absolutely love about WC2WB is actually seeing all of these people here,” Australian Sports Commission CEO Kieren Perkins said.

“While they all have different roles, different backgrounds, different sports and different activities to focus on, they’ve come together to share their knowledge, share their information and just raise the whole system up. The energy and the engagement's really quite extraordinary.”

AIS Director Matti Clements added:We covered a whole range of topics, but one of the really clear themes that's moved throughout the two days has been the importance of connection and belonging.

“Through the Win Well Strategy, we've done a wonderful job of starting that journey of connection. Conferences like this are really important to bring people together. Physically belonging is important – bringing back relationships and learning more about one another goes a long way.”

More information about 2025 WC2WB can be found here while selected sessions will soon be available to members of the Clearinghouse for Sport here.
