Leaders unite to build Australia’s Competitive Advantage for Brisbane 2032

More than 170 organisations came together at the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) in Canberra to map out how to give athletes and sports the ultimate home advantage at the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Australia’s Competitive Advantage is a new initiative bringing together leaders from both within and outside sport to identify the decisions and actions needed to ensure Australia is ready to maximise the opportunity of a home Games.
It’s part of the Win Well Strategy, Australian high performance sport’s united roadmap for success in the lead-up to Brisbane 2032 and beyond.
The first in-person Australia’s Competitive Advantage forum brought together leaders from sport, government, industry and academia to explore the opportunities, challenges and choices that will shape Australia's competitive advantage over the next six years.
Discussions focused on the critical enablers of success, including infrastructure, venues, transport, accommodation, technology, workforce, investment and policy.
AIS Director Matti Clements joined Australian Sports Commission CEO Kieren Perkins, Paralympics Australia CEO Cameron Murray, Commonwealth Games CEO Craig Phillips and Australian Olympic Committee Chief of Public Affairs and International Relations Jake Anson for a discussion on the decisions that will shape Australia's readiness for a not just a home Games but long-term high performance success.
“Our best Games ever will require more than performing well for two weeks in 2032. We must build the people, pathways, knowledge and capability that enable athletes to deliver when it matters and sustain success beyond Brisbane,” Clements said
“A home Games creates unique advantages, but they will not happen automatically. We need to deliberately build our home-ground edge and ensure Australian athletes and performance teams are better prepared than their international competitors.”
The next ACA Forum is scheduled for early 2027 in Sydney.
