Perceptions of safety, inclusion and belonging in sport.
In 2024/25, most respondents felt they would be safe and accepted at sporting events and welcomed at local sports clubs.
However, 25% felt it was probably or definitely false that they would be welcomed and valued at their local club.
Those more likely to feel this way included:
- Those with disability (34%)
- Those aged 55+ (29%)
- Women (28%)
People with disability were also more likely to say they would not feel safe and accepted at sporting events (27%, compared with 20% overall).
These results highlight ongoing barriers for people with disability in engaging with sport.
