Ways Australians support and engage with teams and athletes.
In 2024/25, Australians also showed increased interest in supporting teams and athletes. Watching or attending live sport remained the most common way people engaged.
The overall trends show that these behaviours have now returned to levels seen before the Covid-19 pandemic.
The percentage of people buying or wearing merchandise for Australian international athletes, has increased from 5% in 2019/20 to 8% in 2024/25. Merchandise for Australian national teams remained stable at 9%.
