In the 2023/24 NSW Budget, the NSW Government is investing a further $17.7 million over three years in the Organisation Support Program. This program assists sporting bodies to build capacity, invest in governance and deliver sport and recreation activities at all levels in New South Wales. In addition to their current outcomes, the Office of Sport will agree on new outcomes with State Sporting Organisations on how funded programs will increase women and girls’ participation in sport.

As part of the deliverables for the Organisation Support Program in 2023/24, each funded State Sporting Organisation will be required to submit a plan to increase female representation on the Board of the organisation to meet gender equity targets and to encourage their clubs and affiliates to also achieve these targets. During 2023/24 the Office of Sport will also consult with the sector on an enhanced Organisation Support Program, coming into effect from 1 July 2024, which will include the gender equity targets that each State Sporting Organisation will be required to meet coupled with specific implementation timeframes and enforcement mechanisms.
