Currently, to be eligible for funding through Active Tasmania’s State Grants Program, State sporting organisations, State disability sporting organisations and State active recreation providers must have a gender diverse board/committee with a minimum of 40 per cent representation from any gender (40/40/20).

Organisations operating under a unitary model are currently exempt from this requirement. These organisations will be expected to achieve the targets in accordance with the timeline stipulated by the Australian Sports Commission.

During 2023-24, Active Tasmania will consult with organisations that receive funding outside of the State Grants Program, including through a budget or election commitment, to establish the timeframes to meet this target and determine an implementation timeline (where required).

Active Tasmania will liaise with the sector to assist it to determine the timelines for implementation of the Chair/Deputy Chair requirements and non-compliance measures during 2023-24.

Active Tasmania will continue to encourage and support organisations to undertake Constitutional changes to formally embed these targets within organisations.
